Information We Collect

When you create an account or sign in with Google, we collect your email address and display name solely to identify your account. We do not collect phone numbers, addresses, or payment information.

When you vote on a survey, we record that your account submitted a vote and which option you chose. This is necessary to prevent duplicate votes.

How Your Data Is Used

  • To authenticate you securely via AWS Cognito
  • To enforce the one-vote-per-user rule on each survey
  • To display aggregated, anonymous vote counts publicly
  • To contact you about significant changes to the service

Your individual vote is never exposed to other users. Only aggregated totals (e.g. "60% Yes") are shown publicly.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data may be shared only in the following limited cases:

  • With AWS (our cloud infrastructure provider) to operate the service
  • With Google (if you use Google Sign-In) for authentication only
  • When required by law or valid legal process

Data Security

Authentication is handled by AWS Cognito, an industry-standard identity provider. Your password is never stored by Lost Opinion directly. All data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored in encrypted AWS infrastructure.

Your Rights

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us via the Contact page. Upon request, we will delete your account and remove personally identifiable information within 30 days.
